After a serial killer begins targeting students in Perugia, a group of women decide to head for the hills and spend some time at a country villa. In the tradition of giallo, expect the blood to run bright red, and the clothes to be sparse. There is not a single bone of conventionality in Michael Haneke’s admittedly disturbing and utterly frustrating work ‘Funny Games’. It is frustrating mainly because it doesn’t play to the audience’s whims and desires.

A wife and husband decide to spend a relaxing weekend in a cabin in the woods, reconnecting as each in their own way waits for the opportunity to murder the other. Inside has been praised for its tension, but respect should also be paid to how startlingly rounded these people are. There’s a lot of implied potential behind this script, which manages to keep the breakneck pace and character development running alongside one another. A pregnant woman mourns the recent death of her husband and waits for her long overdue baby to finally arrive.
The People Under the Stairs (
It is a technically brilliant one apartment thriller with some genuine scares and at the centre of which is an Academy award nominated performance by Audrey Hepburn. Although it is primarily a zombie movie, it is mostly about a bunch of zombies/living dead trying to force their way into a house where the main players of the film are hiding out in a bid to outlive the zombie apocalypse. The film provides a unique situation of fear, excitement and anticipation with the flesh eater gathering outside and the people inside going through their own psychological battles. It shows in a very uncanny manner how man turns against each other in times of great crisis and ultimately invites their own downfall. Naturally the film ends on a grisly note for everyone involved but the ending specifically today can be seen in the light of Black racism. One of the finest films in Alfred Hitchock's peerless filmography, this excellent espionage thriller sees an innocent man accidentally pulled into a dangerous plot.

If you can accept that this premise has at least some plausibility, you’re going to be surprised by how impactful this movie can be. While Hider in the House does sometimes fly a little too close to being unintentionally hilarious, the movie still hits some nice, unsettling notes. Busey — a very good actor whose reputation for being, well, Gary Busey — gives a committed, intense, and surprisingly sympathetic performance.

Home invasion is most people's worst nightmare, and these movies bring that to life. The lack of props for the plot makes the experience of watching it unsavoury and unlike most films that Shudder has had to offer. The Geeko meter is not kind to this underwhelming thriller film, even if it can be called so. When the casting and plot brief were announced, it promised a taut thriller with minimal exposition and optimal drama.

The place where you expect to be the safest turns into a nightmare when it gets invaded by someone with not the best intentions. Starring Hollywood heavyweights, Barbara Stanwyck and Burt Lancaster, Sorry, Wrong Number is a slick film-noir released in 1948 and set in New York. The story is told in a series of flashbacks and is almost played in real time. David Fincher directed this 2002 crime thriller, starring Jodie Foster and a pre- Twilight Kristen Stewart. It tells the story of a mother and young daughter trapped inside their panic room, after three criminals force entry into their newly purchased property. The French movie Them keeps it simple, but is an incredibly effective shocker.

I haven’t seen the duo’s follow up film LIVID, but I am happy to report Butillo & Maury are taking part in the upcoming horror anthology sequel ABCS OF DEATH 2. After years of trying to track this sucker down, I finally caught WAIT UNTIL DARK last year, and you know what, definitely worth the wait it was. I mean, Alan Arkin rocking dual-roles, one of which being a maniacal round-shade-wearing psychopath named Roat?! But seriously, Audrey Hepburn gives one of her best turns as a blind woman who unknowingly harbors a heroin-stuffed doll in her apartment.

Home Invasion has long been a sub-genre predominantly installed within the horror category and rightfully so. Home invasion occurs when someone unlawfully gains entry to a private dwelling in order to commit a violation upon the resident. What starts out as simple online chatting between an early-teens girl and a 32 years old guy, leads to the girl tying him up in his house and raiding it for evidence of him being a pedophile. Every single thing that follows, has been orchestrated by the 14 years old girl. Until the very end of the movie, the couple has no idea what they are up against. Baron along with his henchmen breaks into the Sheriff’s wife, Ellen’s home with intention of killing the President who will be visiting their town named Suddenly.

Officer will stop at nothing to force out a friendly interracial couple who just moved in next door to him.
The hangover of this one will stay with you for a few days even after the party gets over.
